Having a set of security cameras for your home or business is vitally essential especially in a today's insecure world. The required security level certainly varies from business to business. Amongst the most important businesses to install surveillance equipment in are banks. These properties are often an easy target for many thieves and burglars for the simple fact that they contain massive amounts of money and other expensive personal belongings. Although these security cameras can not physically intervene to stop a criminal incident they can scare off thieves and successfully capture the identity of brave thieves who might not be prevented by the obvious presence of the cameras. The bandits in this next incident are from these types of thieves.
It was opening time at the Commonwealth national bank in Pritchard, Alabama. Usually not a whole lot of customers come in the early hours of the morning. Except for a few employees and a single security guard, the branch is virtually empty. Suddenly, the calm is shattered by sounds of rapid bullets being fired in the hall. a pair of robbers storms in and one of them was armed.
According to the president and CEO of Commonwealth National Bank the two robbers had cased the bank and they knew the timing and knew when certain people would be coming in and out. They knew exactly what they were looking for and how they will get to it quickly and safely using the element of surprise. The lone security guard uses his handgun to fire one shot at the armed gunman, but he soon realizes that he is no match for the rapid bullets of the rifle. He had to immediately flee from a barrage of bullets flying towards him. According to Prichard Police Department the gunman was armed with a semi automatic AK47 assault rifle, with this type of weapon the suspect was able to fire off many rounds as fast as he could pull the trigger. The retreating guard tries to dodge the gunfire but a searing round punctures his leg. As soon as the two female tellers see the bandits approaching their front counter they fall to the floor to dodge their view.
The accomplice instantly jumps over the glass counter with a bag in hand to full up with cash. While the jittery gunman keeps his finger on the trigger and his barrel aimed at bystanders in case he is faced with any sort of resistance. Then, after filling the ban full of holes and shooting a guard, they take the money and dash out the door. Believe it or not, this entire incident started and ended in less than thirty seconds. There was AK47 shell casings all over the branch it was certainly a horrifying experience, the pare make off with only five hindered dollars. The entire robbery was an apparent raid for drug money. Thanks to the superb quality of the surveillance footage delivered by the security cameras installed all throughout the branch the accomplice was soon identified and arrested and it did not take long until he cut a deal and turned in his gun wielding partner. The gunman received twenty five years in a federal prison and his accomplice received ninety nine month in the same federal prison. The two are lucky they are not serving time for murder. Luckily, the injured guard survives and has fully recovered if he had stood there and tried to take on an AK-47 with a handgun they would have been having a funeral. It just shows that whenever somewhere is out there trying to rob a bank ninety percent of the time they are caught it is just not worth the risk. |
